Golliwogg perfume bottle (small)

Price: $395.00

Quantity: 1 available

Imagery was adopted by a jelly and jam making company, James Robertson & Son, which used the Golliwogg extensively in advertising and promotional merchandise. The French composter Claude Debussy named a movement in a musical suite “The Golliwogg’s Cakewalk.” Here’s some history, including an analysis of the acknowledged racist nature of the Golliwogg imagery. The only flaw in this 2 1/4” bottle is that the label has come off and I am reluctant to reglue it. Otherwise it is in absolutely pristine condition. The bottle has never been opened – the string connecting the stopper to the bottle is intact. It has real fur hair. It is in the original, satin-lined box which is also in excellent condition. A comparable but slighter larger one, sold for $650. This one is priced at $395.00
